Talking about dementia

Dementia is my professional expertise and my personal calling. I have been teaching and researching this phenomenon for over 20 years and am always fascinated by the insights I have been able to gain. I am still familiar with the calssical biomedical narratives and diagnostic criteria, but I see them as increasingly outdated and misleading when they are offered and used as an exclusive perspective.

If you are interested in a perspective on dementia that includes consciousness research, consciousness development and spirituality, I can offer you a challenging and challenging exchange. This applies, among others, to

  • relatives of people with dementia who are currently accompanying them
  • relatives of people with dementia who, looking back after the death of the person they are supporting, want to understand what actually happened - this can often be relieving, but also emotionally challenging. Overall, this can offer a helpful perspective for dealing with possible transgenerational traumas that have resurfaced and perhaps even been exacerbated in the context of dementia in the family system
  • people who occasionally perceive themselves as disorientated and would like me to give them impulses for a different view of what happened
  • people who have received an (early) dementia diagnosis and are open to spiritual perspectives
  • people who have to deal with dementia in a professional context, especially professional carers
  • scientists who are researching dementia and are interested in (spiritual) consciousness research
  • anyone interested in the phenomenon of dementia from a spiritual perspective

I recommend reading my pages on Transcending Dementia and Dementia and Spiritual Awakening first, if you have not already done so. Also my experience of nothingness can inform what spectrum of consciousness I think, act and am in.

Self-exploration and new orientation of the "I"

If you would like to explore and understand the phenomenon of the dissolution of the self/ I in yourself, I would be pleased to accompany you. It is helpful to be fundamentally open to spirituality or spiritual consciousness research and to recognise that there are other dimensions of consciousness beyond our mind, and for us personally something like a ‘higher self’ or a divine impulse that wants to express itself in us.

Depending on your situation, I also use impulses from various wisdom traditions in this counselling and work with the Gene Keys, occasionally also with aspects of Human Design and Astrology. Before we start working together, I will need your place, date and time of birth.

With this service I give no guarantee of success and no promise of a cure, it is not a therapy or treatment for dementia.
It is a guided process of self-exploration, and you and I will keep checking whether the insights you gain from it correspond to what you imagine for your life with a suspected or diagnosed dementia.

It is possible that we may come to a point where too many painful things, such as old traumas, are triggered that worry you to such an extent that you may not be able to deal with them on your own. To be honest, there is a good chance that such events and developments will occur. You may then need additional psychotherapeutic or trauma-therapeutic help, as I am not a psychotherapist and am not allowed to and do not want to work as a psychotherapist.

I see this ‘shaking up’ of old issues as a path to development, possibly even a path to healing, in any case a way for you to better understand what is connected to your ego, which seems to be increasingly dissolving. In the process, beautiful and painful things emerge, and often even horrific things that were buried deep down but would come to light in a different way in advanced dementia.
Now, with only a suspicion of dementia or an early diagnosis, you probably still have the cognitive resources and the spiritual energy to process and possibly integrate such issues. But here too, there are no guarantees and it will be work - awareness work. This is not an easy path that I can offer you - but I have travelled it myself in a similar way.
